A Caring City is a Sharing City
“All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”
(Acts 4:32)
“…And the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.”
(Exodus 36:6-7)
“With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had a need.”
(Acts 4:33-35)
I dream of a city where:
*all believers are unified yet unique
*everyone lives openhanded, openhearted and open homed
*the word OURS replaces MINE
*SHARING is the outward expression of CARING hearts
*no MORE is needed because what we have is MORE than enough
*all are willing workers and all are working
*all that God says do is done
AND
*all believers are boldly sharing the Gospel
*God’s grace is overflowing, leaving “the needy” not in need
*sharing what we make is the norm
*our sharing keeps the cold warm, the hungry fed, the lonely in families and the sick cared for.
OUR CITY ON A HILL WILL REFLECT THE GLORY OF GOD THROUGH OUR CARING, EXPRESSED IN SHARING!
“Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.”
(Acts 4:36-37)
May “Our City on a Hill” be known as a city full of “BARNABASES”!
A city populated with many “SONS OF ENCOURAGEMENT” will be known as a “CITY OF ENCOURAGEMENT”!
