Bright Spot: NIKAO
NIKAO
NIKAO, which means “Victory” in Greek, is the name of an exceptional dance ministry. This ministry was started by Angela Hicks about fifteen years ago. Prior to the ministry of Nikao, Angela ministered alone. When the Lord inspired her to begin teaching others to minister in dance, she was more than delighted to do so. Her love for worship and her passion and poise for dance can be and has been witnessed by many as the Holy Spirit through and in her leads young women and girls to greater heights and deeper depths in the ministry of dance.
Nikao Dance Team is more than mere movement or choreography. It’s like seeing a message in motion. By the grace of God I have personally experienced the awesome power of God upon this team of dancers/worshippers. I have seen atmospheres change as they minister in dance and a life quickened by God’s presence and this includes my own life.
I’ve also watched Angela lovingly embrace each member of the Nikao Team. She has always expressed a desire to see each member of the team come into the knowledge of God’s love for them, while living a life that gives worship to God in Spirit and in Truth. She constantly extends a celebratory heart for other God given ministries, rather its dance or some other form.
I’ve known Angela for a long time and during this time I have seen Nikao go from Glory to Glory. I’ve seen profound creativity within this ministry in such things as: dancing under the power of God through the spoken word and the implementation of skits during worship. It appears to be no limit to the many facets of God’s creativity within this ministry. One of the most recent examples of this has been Nikao’s name change.
Nikao’s foundational scripture is 1 John 5:4 which says, for whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. This scripture is one of God’s promises that Angela holds fast to. Just recently Nikao joined hands with Fellowship of Faith Ministry. The team’s new name is “Nikao with Faith”, which means Victory with Faith. I think that’s pretty cool, seeing that God’s unity for the body is a necessary base and that the victory that overcomes the world is our faith.
It’s always a joy to see God’s purpose for his ministry unfold, that’s why I’m looking forward to seeing the continued manifestation of God’s word through the creative expressions of Nikao.
