ENGAGE SERVICES
As Believers we are called to engage with each other—to “do” life together. To be united with individuals as well as active in the church. We are to be involved and participate in relationships with each other as well as our triune God who loves us and whom we love and serve. The ONE who called us into relationship with Himself longs for us to come to Him with our joys as well as our anxieties and burdens…and to come as we are.
Once a month in the summertime and quarterly throughout the year, the worship team at Willowbrook Baptist Church holds an “ENGAGE” service that is open to ‘whosoever’ would like to come. All who attend are offered a powerful way to come and connect to our Savior. The Bible teaches us that God’s presence and power are found in our praise and worship of Him—no matter our circumstances. (PS 50:15; 2 Sam 22:4; 2 Chron 20:22). Engage services seek to deepen and enrich that connection. As we praise Him for who He is through songs and heartfelt prayers, the presence of the Holy Spirit is palpable… just as He promises in His word—‘for where 2 or 3 gather in My name, there am I with them’. (Matt 18:20)
Ironically, another definition of engage is to start fighting against an opponent. As Believers we have a very real opponent, Satan, who comes only to kill, steal, and destroy the abundant joyous life that Jesus died to give us. (John 10:10) While the war has been won and our enemy IS defeated, he still tries to engage us so that we see our troubles instead of Jesus’ triumph in our lives. As we look at what our enemy shows us instead of God’s promises we become ineffective warriors instead of vessels through which God’s grace and glory can be seen. As we humble ourselves in praise and prayer at the alter, while declaring HIS truths, the darkness in our lives that the enemy brings is pushed back as HIS light and truth come to do battle for us. [This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Chron. 20:15] As we engage with our God we disengage with our enemy and the truth of WHOSE we are and where we stand- victorious!- comes to the forefront. The result? A deepened trust that our God is who He says He is, has done what He says He has done, and will continue to do for those He dearly loves—the children He rescued and redeemed with His Son, Jesus Christ’s blood.
Come. Engage with the lover of your soul and watch HIM engage powerfully in your life.
