Honoring Veterans
“May the Lord bless you and protect you;
may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you;
May He be gracious to you, show you His favor
and give you His peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).” Numbers 6:24-26
Thanking You this week, Father, for all those who have served this nation in the military. We remember the men and women who gave the supreme sacrifice and pray blessings of comfort and provision for their families. We give honor and gratitude to those who have served our country to protect the freedoms we enjoy. Lord, help us do our part to pray, speak up and take action so those freedoms will be in place for future generations.
Thank You for the special emphasis in honoring our veterans here in Huntsville/Madison County throughout this week. May they and their families enjoy the many activities and gifts/discounts intended to show our love and appreciation. [https://www.ausa.org/2017- huntsville-madison-county- veterans-week-additional- events]. Infuse Your strength and joy into the marriages and family life of our veterans.
Lord, we lift up those veterans who may be struggling with physical, emotional, financial and/or spiritual issues because of the impact of war experiences. We pray for Your love to rescue them and bring full restoration, encouragement and peace. We are so thankful for the work of the non-profit, Still Serving Veterans, which empowers veterans, including wounded warriors, to reintegrate into the workforce and community via counseling, coaching, job transition, and assistance in obtaining all VA benefits. Grant their needs for sponsorships and partners, more Vet-friendly hiring initiatives, and assistance reaching Veterans in need. [https://ssv.org]
Veterans of North Alabama Services Assistance Program, Inc. is another non-profit we bless as they commit themselves to helping veterans meet their basic necessities. [http://www.veterans-on-asap- huntsville.com/About-Us.html ] Thank You for Operation Stand Down, the non-profit that is helping homeless veterans in North Alabama re-establish ties and re-integrate into the community. May their weekend outreach events have a powerful impact giving veterans in need the tools to rejoin their community as productive, responsible citizens. [http://www.osdh.org ]
We pray Your mercy and wisdom for those overseeing the Veteran’s Court that offers diversion sentencing (including counseling and mental health services) for veterans involved in nonviolent crimes. Raise up mentors through the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts who will be a consistent presence for the Vets, much like an AA sponsor. Call many in the Body of Christ to be part of the loving solutions needed for veterans trapped in drug abuse, homelessness and crime.
We ask for the resources and good staffing needed at the Huntsville VA Clinic, Tut Fann State Veterans Home, and all other medical facilities for our veterans. May they be infused with Your comfort and healing.
“..because the mercy of our God is very tender, and heaven’s dawn is about to break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness and death’s shadow, and to guide us to
the path of peace.” Luke 1: 78-79
