Weekly Prayer Focus-Government
Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
For surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield. Ps. 5:11-12
We pray blessings over our Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Huntsville Police Department and Madison City Police Department. Father we ask that You, Mighty God, spread Your protection over the more than 1,200 deputies, police officers and civilian personnel who work to protect the citizens of this region. As they go about dangerous duties, we do ask that Your favor surround them as a shield.
Bless and grant wisdom and authority (on earth and in heaven) to our Sheriff of 12 years, Blake Dorning, to Huntsville Police Chief Mark McMurray who just took this position Sept. 1 (but has served in the dept. since 1986), and Madison Police Chief, Larry Muncey (involved in police work since 1987).
Father, enable these law enforcement agencies to rise to the challenges of protecting life, liberty, property and defending the constitutional rights of all people with compassion, fairness, integrity and professionalism. We ask You to call forth the needed recruits who will dedicate themselves to be Your righteous public servants.
Remind us to give words of appreciation and encouragement whenever we see our law enforcement officers on the job; and to pray for them whenever we see their flashing lights and hear sirens. We are so grateful for those who rush into harm’s way on our behalf.
We claim the promise of Deut. 31:8 for them; that You, LORD, will go before them. You will be with them; You will not forsake them.
