Our Prayers: Arts 2017
“You are the light of the world–like a city on a hill that cannot be hidden…
Let your light shine..” Matt. 5:14, 16
Thank You, Father, for the creation of a physical symbol that represents a spiritual reality in our city. Many times You speak through gifted artists, prophetically announcing a message that we must pray into so that the reality is manifested among us.
This sculpture, Light Tree, created by Birmingham artist, Chris Fennell, symbolizes the many different kinds of people who call Huntsville home. Here are a few of the artists comments about his creation in downtown Huntsville:
“All of the people here are different, but they are together as one in this city,” Fennell said. “The people are like the city’s lights on top of the hill. Trees are a symbol of protection, much like a person’s home, city can become a place of refuge.”
“You’re part of that city,” he said. “It’s the idea of light being knowledge and the essence of a person. It’s that light that all the globes and people give the tree and the city.” For the full news article see http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/index.ssf/2016/12/this_hallmark_of_2017_wont_glo.html
Father of lights, we praise You for sending Jesus, the Light of the World. May the light He deposits in us shine so invitingly that many will experience Huntsville as their city of refuge and Heaven their home!
Lord, our desire is that many of your children will display their light and talents at this year’s Panoply festival. Call them forth and give them favor. Use us to encourage and support them. May You be represented well.
