Prayers for Our City: August 6, 2018 – Education
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Tim. 3:16-17 NIV
We begin this prayer by praising You, God, that our U.S. Congress passed a resolution in 1782 stating, “The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.” (quote from America’s God and Country) Your Word was so welcome in this nation for at least 150 years! Forgive our judges and the administrators of our educational system for their ban on Bibles.
We pray the Body of Christ will determine to be a voice for the Bible’s re-insertion into our school system. May our Christian children be encouraged to take their Bibles to school to read in free reading time. May all age Christian students quote scripture in papers and reports and live according to the Bible’s principles. Give teachers the boldness to study the Word in their free time at school and start a Bible study with other teachers. (It’s not against the law or the Constitution.)
Holy Spirit, make others around those who love Your Word curious and hungry to see what that’s all about. Let our witness be filled with love and grace. Let Your holy wind blow over Your Word and perform it through Your Church in the schools, Jesus. Amen (Excerpts from Give Him 15 Daily Prayer 8/3/18)
Father God, we thank You for the 2018-19 school year. We pray Your peace, protection, provision, purity, and Presence in every school. (Some of us have been declaring that blessing for years whenever we drive past a school.). Make a special point to prayer walk/drive at the schools Holy Spirit points out to you as this school year begins.
