Prayers for Our City: February 4, 2019 – Church
“Shepherd the flock of God among you….casting all your care upon
Him, for He cares for you.” I Peter 5:2,7 NKJV
Today we lift up the pastors of Huntsville/Madison County. That’s quite a few men and women (demographics say there are 344 churches in Madison County)! So thankful that You know and love each one of these pastors intimately, Father. As you encourage them, remind them that they are the “elders at the gates” of this city/county and that You have glorious purposes for the Church of this region to transform the 7 mountains of culture for Your Kingdom’s sake.
We pray for healing and unity among our pastors and churches that only You can accomplish as we humble ourselves and pray. Cause deep friendships among pastors to grow as they watch together over the spiritual climate of Huntsville/Madison County. Give them discernment and sensitivity to what is pleasing to You. (Phil. 1:9-11). Deliver them from evil in all its overt and covert forms.
We ask You to create those precious moments for our pastors to be transported away with You into the secret, quiet place of communion. May our pastors be able to lay down their agenda to receive ministry from You! Help each church family be sensitive to the need their pastor(s) have to be renewed physically, emotionally and spiritually.
We bless our pastors with joy, peace, health and victory in ministry in spite of difficulties, pressures, life circumstances and “ornery sheep”. (Phil. 4:6-8) Keep them true to their God-given purpose in ministry and help them guard and prioritize their time. (I Cor. 15:58). We pray for each one to be equipped and empowered by Your Spirit in their calling and gifting. (Heb. 13:20-21) Cover and strengthen our pastors’ precious families.
We speak blessing over our Shepherds in the words of Hebrews 13:20-21 that they have used to bless us many times. We ask You, God of Peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, strengthen my pastor(s) in every good work to do Your will. Work in them that which is pleasing in Your sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
[Encourage your pastor(s) with a call or note that focused prayers are going up for them. We value and appreciate them and their labor of love.]
