Prayers for Our City: July 15, 2019 – Church
“Better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Psalm 84:10 NIV
We praise and thank You this week for the upcoming opportunity on July 25-27 to actually be a doorkeeper in a tent of worship that is to duplicate the day and night worship model that King David established. (I Chronicles 9:19-33, I Chronicles 16:36-42) So we cover in prayer this event of 50 hours of continuous praise in our city to declare the exceedingly great worth of You, Jesus! You are worthy of all praise, Lord!
Dear Lord, would You draw the worship leaders, musicians, singers and other passionate lovers of You from every church, every age group, every race and tongue in Huntsville/Madison County and beyond to lift up this continuous, public love song of adoration to You. Would You call the doorkeepers who will minister to the people who are drawn into this event by Your Spirit? As we proclaim the majesty of Your Name, enable us to create an atmosphere saturated by Your Presence that will create curiosity in the eyes of the world and an openness to the good news of the Gospel.
Father, thank You for the vision and calling on Andy Strange, Director of David’s Tent Alabama who is moving us toward establishing a permanent David’s Tent of day and night worship in our state’s capital. This bicentennial year, we bless the 50-hour worship events in our state’s five capitols (Saint Stephens, Huntsville, Cahaba, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery). Use these events, Father, to create a canopy of praise over our state that welcomes Your Presence and causes Your Kingdom to come to Alabama in fuller and fuller measure!
Visit www.davidstentalabama.org to learn more about David’s Tent Alabama. Volunteer for a two-hour shift to be a doorkeeper or to bring your music team to worship at Huntsville’s David’s Tent event starting July 25 at 6 pm going straight through and ending July 27 at 8 pm. The tent location is at Butler Green, 2610 Clinton Avenue, the grass lawn next to Campus 805. Come and go throughout the event with your family and friends to bring your unique expression of love to Jesus in worship!
“Praise the Lord. Praise the Name of the Lord; praise Him, you servants of the Lord, you who minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to His Name, for that is pleasant.” Psalm 135:1-3
