Prayers for Our City: July 16, 2018 – Education
We offer thanks today for UAH President, Robert Altenkirch, and the work he has accomplished here in Huntsville these past seven years. Thank You for the 19% increase in enrollment, expanded academic programs and the campus renovations that occurred during his tenure. As he announces his retirement, Lord, we pray for the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees as they begin the process of searching for his replacement. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done to fill this important position!

We also continue to pray for the Huntsville Board of Education as they search for the best candidate to be Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools. Raise up a righteous man or woman that has Your heart for the students and Your wisdom to oversee all our city schools. Bless Christy Finley, who is interim superintendent during the process.
As the new school year approaches, we are praying over all the teaching and staff positions that remain unfilled in our city and county school systems. Father, would you quickly make good connections between qualified, caring teachers and these openings. Block and expose any that would try to come in with evil intentions.
Bless all our teachers as they prepare to return to their classrooms. [Pray by name for all those you know who work for the school systems.] Your Word says, “The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.” (Prov. 13:14) We all can remember the impact on our lives of specific teachers that modeled Godly principles/character and imparted to us a passion to learn something. We honor them and all our gifted teachers, asking You to multiply back to them the love, encouragement, and knowledge they sow into their students.
