Prayers for Our City: June 1, 2020 – Church

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses … to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 NIV

As Your people observed Pentecost on Sunday, May 31, Lord, we remembered the birth of the Church and the powerful witnesses that emerged from the upper room of prayerful waiting to tell the world about Jesus!

We are crying out now, Father, for both a springing up of those old wells of power and also for the releasing of the “new” into and through us that is needed for this hour. Help us walk into a new level of authority and clarity as we share with our hurting friends and neighbors how to move out of uncertainty and fear into a relationship with the Prince of Peace.

We ask, God, for a baptism in Your fire of boldness to witness. We are each longing to see great fruitfulness in our lives. As Your Church becomes more love-filled and courageous, no matter what kind of shaking is going on, we know our witness will bring many to Christ.

May our witness be part of the solution to human rights abuses being exposed and dealt with in organizations, individuals, and governments. As the darkness grows darker, our Light is shining brighter according to Isaiah 60. May Your fire in the Church cause others to catch fire!! We long to see many new Spirit-filled believers with beautiful gifts to share. It’s time for the weary prodigals to head back to Your house, Father.

As we are humbly waiting, making sure our hearts are purified, lead us out into this new era of Your kingdom. We don’t want to miss the day of visitation. Rightly position us for the windows of Heaven to open over us and pour out Your blessings on us.

We welcome You, Holy Spirit, to come upon us in unprecedented measure and to lead us in bold, new ways. Spring up, oh wells of salvation and healing and power in Huntsville/Madison County!!

Big Spring Park, Huntsville, AL

“Jesus shouted to the crowd, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me.’ (He was speaking of the Holy Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him.)” John 7:17-19 TLB
