Prayers for Our City: May 22, 2017 – Family
As the Scriptures say,
“A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:31-33
We commit to You, Lord, the new families being established in Huntsville/Madison County as couples commit their lives to one another in marriage. We bless this mysterious and marvelous plan that You instituted to create family. We pray that marriage be preserved as You designed it, and that our city and state will stand against all cultural pressure to redefine it.
Jesus, we invite You to be the Guest of Honor who performs miracles at all the weddings in our community. Once again reveal Your Glory as Your servants listen and obey Your instructions. (John 2:1-11) We declare the peace and joy of Jesus over every wedding celebration and new marriage!
Thank You, Father, for the sturdy time-tested marriages in our community that reflect Your faithfulness and beauty. Use these couples’ example, influence and prayers to push back against negative cultural images and mind sets. Make it true in this city that “marriage is held in honor (esteemed worthy and of great price and precious) by all.” Hebrews 13:4
Oh Lord, we especially pray Your hope and health for marriages which are strained to a breaking point or are failing. Heal broken hearts and restore intimacy. We speak Your Peace over the marriages/families of our region as You graciously refresh and re-center homes in Christ.
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other…” Romans 15:5
