Prayers for Our City: May 9, 2016
“He appointed military officers over the people and assembled them…
and encouraged them with these words: ‘Be strong and courageous..” II Chron. 32:6-7
May is Military Appreciation Month
Father God, we ask You to help us support the armed forces personnel here in Huntsville/Madison County and throughout our nation with the prayer, encouragement and appreciation they need to do their jobs. They have a great task in this turbulent time. We bless the top leadership and pray for Your great wisdom to guide them so that they inspire the respect of those under their command. May our nation’s military continue to have Your blessing and strength to defend America and struggling nations of this world.
Thank You for Gen. Dennis L. Via, Commander of the United States Army Materiel Command of Redstone Arsenal and Lieutenant General Larry Wyche, Deputy Commanding General of the AMC. May they rejoice in You, saying as Your mighty warrior David did, “It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure…He trains my hands for battle…You make your saving help my shield, and Your right hand sustains me; Your help has made me great.” Ps. 18:32-35 Grant skill and favor to the military and DOD civilian employees on the arsenal who are involved with the testing and development of the Army’s missile programs.
We pray for all our military to have a dependence on You, Father, that keeps them safe under the shadow of Your wing as they declare, “I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Ps. 91 Yes, may there be a great awakening to Your love and protection in our military that gives them courage and ability to endure
hardship in the face of danger. We ask for Your divine protection from the enemy within and without. [Pray for those you know by name serving in our military forces.]
We pray for chaplains who are divinely appointed. Grant them freedom to deliver Your hope and spiritual strength to those they serve. May those who protest the worship of You by our military be silenced.
Thank You for the precious military family members who are left behind when our troops are deployed. We pray for their protection and support. Show the Church how to be Your arms of love and help to them when they need it.
I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalms 18:3
