Prayers for Our City: November 26, 2018 – Family
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth. John 1:14 KJV
As we focus on families this week, we thank You for the blood of Jesus that can forgive, cleanse, heal and deliver every person in every home in Huntsville/Madison County. We ask that angels herald the good news that God is with us and that every family would encounter You, Jesus. We ask and believe during this Advent season (Dec. 2 – Dec. 24), that You will come into their heart and home as we pray in anticipation of Your coming. Yes! Our city makes room for You, Lord. We pray for every Christian family in our community to have wisdom during this busy season to establish fun, God-honoring, family Christmas traditions. We pray Your blessing and anointing on every Christmas program and outreach event that offers an opportunity to receive the Gift of You! We ask for Your spirit of generosity to pour out on our city so that every effort of our non-profit groups who minister to the less fortunate and lonely at Christmas time will be abundantly blessed. [Invite neighbors and friends to the Bethlehem Walk, a powerful family-friendly Gospel outdoor event the second and third weekends in December. Click here for more details.]
We ask for the blessing of health, safety, and protection over our homes, churches, schools, and businesses during the Christmas season. Grant grace and help to medical and law enforcement personnel who care for our families.
Remind us, Holy Spirit, to prayer target our neighborhoods as we drive in and out looking at decorations. Give our families creative ways to share the true Joy and Light of this season. Give us discernment to reach out with Your comfort and compassion to those around us who are hurting, lonely, and grieving. May You, Jesus, be high and lifted up this Christmas!
We thank You, Father, that Your angels still sing over this troubled world today just as they did at Jesus’ first coming – “Glory to God in the highest…joy to the world…peace…good will to men.” Fill us anew with the wonder of that truth and enable each of us to be carriers of Your joy, peace, and good will this season so we can distribute You into every family, workplace, shopping and social event this Christmas time!
